Parent Role
The best athletic programs have parents that play an active role in supporting team activities. Parents will need to collect gate tickets, work concession stands (in the off season), help run gameday pressbox operations, participate in field day clean up, and help with team meals. Parents may be asked to host a team dinner throughout the season where the entire team visits with food and friendship.
We want our parents to enjoy watching their daughter play soccer, but we would like to request that all parents/spectators exhibit appropriate behavior, remembering that all behavior displayed by players, coaches, and parents reflects directly on Columbus's culture, environment, and community. Parents will share in the fellowship of a great Christian community at Columbus Catholic High School.
We could not provide the experience to all athletes in the program we do without tremendous parent support. We introduced ‘Parent Reps’ several years ago to help distribute tasks and provide less work for all. We strive to have 1-2 parents at each grade level, to be able to communicate with their respective grade level. The collective group meets prior to the season to plan all team meals, team masses, Senior Day, and arranging away team meals. If you are interested in being a parent rep, please reach out to the coaches!
School Communication Process
Student participant first discusses their concern with their level coach.
1. If the issue is not resolved, student participant meets with the head coach.
2. If the issue is not resolved, student and parent meet with the activity supervisor.
3. If the issue is not resolved, student and parent meet with the building administrator.
4. If the issue is not resolved, student and parent meet with the chief administrator.
5. If the issue is not resolved, student and parent meet with the school board.
*Before, during, or after a competition is not an appropriate time for discussion*. A 24-hr rule will be in effect after Game days to communicate any issues.
Faith and Fellowship
During the season, there will be at least four team dinners hosted at a players home. Each grade level will be responsible for one team meal (see dates on calendar). We will gather together for worship on two Sunday's for a team Mass. This builds team spirit as well as spirituality. At practice and games, Catholic values are emphasized as applied to respecting fellow teammates and competitors.
Equipment Turn-in Responsibility
In order to keep costs down for purchasing soccer equipment, players are responsible to turn in all assigned equipment washed and cleaned. If players do not turn in equipment, the team may be forced to purchase an entire set of uniforms, since items are often out of stock for purchase. This significantly drives up the cost for Columbus High School’s girls’ soccer program and reduces opportunities for future players and for the program. Repairing damaged items and cleaning uniforms is important to help out the next season’s players. Players are expected to keep their uniforms clean throughout the season for each game.
As part of this policy, players are required to turn in all equipment at the scheduled turn in date at the end of the season. Players will ensure that all items are reasonably repaired, washed and neatly returned. All missing items will result in the player paying a replacement cost for the missing item.
Varsity Lettering/Certificates of Participation/Awards
Coaches will discuss prior to season-ending banquet which athletes are eligible for a Varsity Letter. To qualify for a Varsity Letter, an athlete must participate in 50% of the Varsity games. Graduating seniors, who have been involved with the program for at least 2 years prior to their senior year, will be eligible for a letter for 3 years of participation. Managers will be eligible and up to coaches’ discretion. At the team banquet awards and outside organization awards will be given out.
